CITAD unveils book on successful northern female entrepreneurs

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has unveiled a book written on some successful female entrepreneurs in Northern Nigeria who were empowered by the centre.

The book has a profile of 37 female entrepreneurs who benefited from the centre’s Digital Livelihood Programme (DLP), empowerment programmes in the areas of graphics design, fashion design, video editing, poultry farming and selling of other household products among others.

Over 574 women, mostly between the ages of 18 and 30, were trained by the centre over the last three years and would continue to feature in its subsequent publications.

Isa Garba, the Senior Programme Officer of CITAD, said they decided to track the personal profile of the women and compile it in a book with a view to linking their businesses with new customers.

He said the programme, supported by the American Embassy in Nigeria, Digital Equal Access and McArthur Foundation, would play a vital role in changing misconception about Northern women in Nigeria.
