The former Vice Chairman of Kuje Area Council of the FCT, Mohammed Baba, and two other council officials who were kidnapped have regained freedom after an undisclosed ransom was paid.
City News reported on Monday that four among the 15 kidnapped victims were released on Friday after a N10m ransom was paid to their abductors.
The former vice-chairman and 14 other council officials were on Saturday, October 10, 2020, abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers while returning from a reception organised for the newly appointed LEA Secretary of the council, Yunusa Zakara.
Confirming the release of the former vice-chairman and other council officials, a close aide to the chairman of the council who preferred anonymity, said the victims were released on Sunday evening in a forest near Nasarawa State.
The aide said, “Those who have regained their freedom from their abductors were reunited with their families and we give glory to God.”
When contacted, the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, ASP Mariam Yusuf, confirmed the release of the former vice-chairman and two other council officials, even as she denied the payment of ransom.
