Malcomines, 60 Yards, ZMD sweep top laurels

Jos polo kings Malcomines have swept the top laurels at the just concluded Trappco Ranch mini-tournament that held in the cosmopolitan city of Kaduna.

The Murtala Laushi powered Malcomines squad who stormed Kaduna on the heels of an earlier superlative performance  that fetched them  the  first post-COVID-19 pandemic lockdown title, at Keffi Pony Polo Ranch in Keffi, Nasarawa State, made good their pre-tournament rating,  easing past two strong oppositions, to emerge champions.

To win the glittering Majidadi Keffi Cup, the event’s biggest, the quartet of Laushi, Hamisu Buba, Murtala Aliyu and their Argentine import, Fernando eased past Kaduna Trappco boosting  the Badamasi brothers, (Idi & Malik) in the opening high-goal game before clipping Keffi Ponys in the final.

Two other visiting teams, 60 Yards from Abuja and the enterprising ZMD warriors from the ancient kingdom of Kano clinched the two remaining top titles, to deny host Kaduna that fielded teams in all the cups categories any rewards to show after four days of nerve wrecking polo competition.

Polo Royals reports that the final standings at the of the mini tourney show Mukhtar Adahama, led his 60 Yards side, to clinch the event’s second most wanted prize, the Aldusar Cup overrunning two other oppositions, to give their fans who arrived Kaduna in their numbers a reason to rejoice.

A member of the tournament organizing committee, told Polo Royals that “with the standard plays and the enthusiasm of the players and the teeming polo freaks across the country during the four days of polo excitements, 2021 edition would get better as it has always been over the years adding.

“The Committee has resolved to make next edition another four days of thrilling polo experience to remember.”
