Govt Secretariat shut as #EndSARS protesters storm Ibadan

The Oyo state, Secretariat, Agodi Ibadan was shut on Tuesday as the #EndSARS# protesters storms strategic areas in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Protesters divided themselves into two, clamouring for the total ban of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) rather than reformation.

While a group kick-off protest at the Iwo-road interchange and moved towards Agodi gate to the state secretariat, the other group converged in front of the University of Ibadan and walk through Bodija international market enroute the secretariat.

The peaceful protest is led by some activists and youth leaders in the state.

Our correspondent who monitored the protest reports that the protesters are currently blocking the Iwo Road interchange.

The protesting youths carried various placards demanding the total ban of SARS.

Meanwhile the state secretariat is currently under lock and key while the protesters are in front of the main entrance of the governor’s office, Agodi, demanding for the presence of the governor.

But the pedestrian gate was opened for workers to gain entrance to the secretariat.

One of the protesters, Kunle Maxwell said agitation of the protesting youths is not limited to reforming SARS, but reformation of the Nigeria Police Force, adding that the intimidation was unbearable for youths anymore.

At the time of this report, the commissioner for youths and sports, Seun Fakorede is addressing the protesters.
