Police nab man over possession of pistol in Abuja

The FCT Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Paul Edoh, over possession of a locally made pistol at Dappe-Life Camp, Abuja.

In a statement, the spokesman of the FCT Police Command, ASP Mariam Yusuf, said the suspect was arrested by police detectives of the Life Camp Division, and that during interrogation, the suspect claimed to have received the pistol from one Lucky, who was at large.

She said effort was ongoing to apprehend the fleeing Lucky, adding that exhibits recovered from the suspect included a locally made pistol and four live cartridges and that the suspect would soon be arraigned in court.

She further disclosed that the police also arrested a 28-year-old man, Orinya James, for being a member of a two-man one chance robbery gang at the Ushafa-Gwagwa axis of the FCT.

She said the suspect who posed as a cab operator tried to abandon his vehicle before he was arrested by the police operatives.

According to her, exhibits recovered from the suspect included a painted taxi – Mazda – with registration number ZL 271 DKA, two hand bags, two phones and one dagger, saying effort was ongoing to arrest the other suspect who was at large.

DSP Yusuf also disclosed that one 29-year-old man, Onem Mker, had also been arrested for being in possession of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp.

According to the spokesman, the suspect was arrested during a routine raid by police operatives of the command’s anti-nacortics squad, adding that 182 wraps of Indian hemp were recovered, and that the suspect would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
