Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) will today host this year’s International Ombudsman Day.
The event, which is in collaboration with the Public Complaints Commission is aimed at educating and raising awareness among the public about the history and practices of the Ombudsman profession including the various models, roles they play, services offered and value provided.

- The Director, Public Complaints in PCACC, Zaharadeen Kofar-Mata said Kano being the only state ombuds in the country is honoured to host the event.
He said key participants at the event scheduled to hold at the Anti-corruption Academy Hall in Goron Dutse are the ICPC, EFCC, NBA and Human Rights Commission.
During the one day event, there will be paper presentations by scholars who are vast on issues of the ombudsman.
The key paper on the role of ombudsman, origin and the institutionalisation of the global ombudsman will be delivered by Dr. Dahiru Jaafaru of the Faculty of Law, Bayero University, Kano.
The Dean of Faculty of Law, Professor Usman Shuaib Zannnurain and Professor Mustapha Ismail will present papers on Raddul Mazalim 1 and 2 respectively.
These two papers shall discuss on how to deepen the rule of law and justice and procedures of addressing ills in the society and will educate the public about the role of ombudsman, to encourage the public to the greater use of ombudsman services and programmes as well as highlights the value of ombudsman to society.
The Executive Chairman of the state anti-corruption commission, Barrister Muhyi Rimin Gado will give the welcome address, and talk on the achievement of the state’s ombudsman.
Among dignitaries expected at the event are the state governor Abdullahi Ganduje and other top government functionaries.
