Senator Oriolowo flays FSARS atrocities, urges police reform

Chairman, Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance, Senator Adelere Oriolowo (APC, Osun West), on Tuesday condemned what he called “inordinate operations” of personnel the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police.

Oriolowo, in a statement by his media aide, Oluniyi Isamotu, condemned extrajudicial activities and arbitrariness of some FSARS) personnel.

The lawmaker called for punitive measures to curb police brutality and harassment of young Nigerians.

Oriolowo promised to work with other members of the National Assembly to work out modalities for police reform.

He commended the IGP for the steps taken so far, stressing, however, that “there are still a lot to be done as our young men and women can’t continue to be harassed or brutalized by those who should protect them.”
