Kaduna villages rejoice over appointment of village heads

Residents of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have expressed joy over the appointment of new village heads‎, six months after the death of the village heads of Afogo and Kufana villages in Kufana district.

Arewa Trust Weekly reports that John Dodo was appointed village head of Afogo and Aminu Gajere was appointed as the village head of Kufana, which have been under the supervision of acting village heads in the last six months.

Residents of the villages told our correspondent that they had waited anxiously for new village heads to emerge in the last six months and thanked the state government for obliging them.

Jauro Adamu a resident of Afogo could not hide his excitement as he thanked the district head of Kufana for his role in the appointment.

“We hope the appointment will further strengthen peaceful coexistence among  the different tribes living here because as it is now, our market which was locked for months due to crisis has been reopened and this shows that peace is gradually returning in the area,” he said.

Another resident, Isiaka Hammed, commended the district head for his wisdom in appointing respected members of the community as village heads‎.

The district head of Kufana, Titus Dauda, while presenting their letters of appointment at his palace urged them to be fair to all irrespective of tribe and religion and to be loyal and law abiding to constituted authorities.

Speaking on behalf of the new village heads, the village head of Kufana, Aminu Gajere, thanked the state government for trusting them with leadership responsibilities. He promised that they would be loyal and obedient to all constituted authorities and discharge their duties without fear or favour.
