The Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has trained head teachers and principals of public primary and junior secondary schools on the COVID-19 preventive protocol ahead of schools’ reopening slated for Monday, October 5.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop in Gombe, the Executive Chairman of the SUBEB, Mr Babaji Babadidi, said the training was aimed to lay down safety protocol and train school administrators on how to handle their pupils and students when the schools were reopened.
Babadidi added that the present administration was committed to teachers’ welfare as well as implementation of their promotion which was stalled for years.
He said a committee has been set up by Governor Yahaya to identify and verify teachers that are due for promotion, and assured them that government will ensure full implementation of the committee’s recommendations.
The representative of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Alhaji Umar Jiddah, said the training was to equip the teachers and other managers of public schools in the state with the basic knowledge, to ensure that the schools are safe when the students resume classes.
