The INEC has urged traditional, community and religious leaders to caution youths to shun thuggery during the forthcoming October 10 governorship election in Ondo State.
The commission also urged parents and guardians to talk to their children and wards on the need to shun vices and violence.
National Commissioner/Chairman, Outreach and Partnership Committee for INEC, Abuja, Mr Adekunle Ogunmola, made the plea at the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) sensitisation workshop organised for religious and community leaders as well as youth associations held in Akure.
Ogunmola, who said the workshop was organised in collaboration with the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES), stressed that it was meant to strengthen the capacity of the traditional rulers to effectively resolve disputes and build public trust.
He also called on all the youth to advocate peace among themselves before, during and after the election.
