FG engages 850 unemployed youths in Plateau

The federal government Thursday engaged 850 Plateau unskilled school leavers and youths on skill acquisition training in various trades.

Dr. Muhammad Ladan Nasiru Argungu, Director General of the NDE, represented by Yusuf Umar Yusuf, who disclosed this during an orientation exercise of the trainees in Jos, said the programme would empower the youths as it will enable them to be self-reliant.

“The aim of this training generally is to improve financial institutions, reduce poverty and develop entrepreneurship in our various societies in the country.

“This kind of training is also serving as an avenue for attitudinal change among youths in the country.

“I called on everyone here to use this opportunity to acquire the skills so as to become independent.”

In his remark the NDE state coordinator, Ibrahim Hardo Abdulaziz, urged the participants to be proactive as the training would surely make them productive.

The state coordinator further said the participants would be trained on various skills such as shoemaking, soft furnishing, beauty therapy, computer application, and confectionery among others.

He promised to give advanced training to those who show commitment and seriousness in the process.
