Another external member of the governing council of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Bayo Adaralegbe, has resigned.

He tendered his resignation letter a day after the abrupt resignation of the university’s Pro-Chancellor, Wale Babalakin (SAN).

UNILAG pro-chancellor, Babalakin resigns

UNILAG Crisis: Buhari receives Panel’s report

Babalakin had Thursday resigned following his dissatisfaction with the outcome of the visitation panel to the university.

According to him, the outcome of the visitation panel set by the federal government was predetermined.

He alleged that there were too many vested interests in the UNILAG matter, adding that the issues were not approached objectively.

He also alleged that the visitation panel was raised to exonerate the former vice chancellor and implicate the pro-chancellor.

President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the constitution of a special visitation panel to look into the lingering crisis in the university following developments that lead to the removal of the vice chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, by the Governing Council led by Babalakin.

Buhari had also prior to commencement of work by the panel asked both Professor Ogundipe and Babalakin to recuse themselves from official duties pending the outcome of the report of the special panel.

The visitation panel chaired by Professor Tukur Sa’ad submitted its report to the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, on Thursday in Abuja.

Mr. Adaralegbe, a lawyer and partner at Babalakin and Company, a law chamber founded by Babalakin, addressed his resignation letter dated September 18, 2020 to the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.

He said his decision was premised on the crisis in the university.
