El-Kanemi Warriors sign new players, shop for more

In a bid to make a quick come back to the Nigerian topflight, El-kanemi Warriors football club have signed 10 new players and are in search of more quality players for the 2020/2021 season.

El-Kanemi Warriors were relegated to the second tier of the Nigerian football league at the end of the 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Following their relegation, the club lost most of their top players making it necessary for them to find replacements.

It will also be recalled before the cancellation of the 2019/2020 NNL season, El-Kanemi Warriors were in prime position to pick the NPFL ticket from their group.

Before the recent reintroduction of the ban on all contact sports by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, the management of the club had announced September 8 as resumption date for the players.

Daily Trust gathered that the decision was taken at the meeting that had in attendance the Commissioner of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Hon. Sayinna Buba, the management committee and technical crew.

“The meeting x-rayed the importance of early resumption of players for blending of players in order to raise a formidable team.

“The meeting also decided to abolish the old practice of signing players on loan. It was decided that players should be signed and their clearance fees paid.

“Thus, clearance fees for the 10 new players we have signed cost us N13m,” said the club’s Media Officer.

El-Kanemi Warriors also assured the sports loving people of Borno state and the entire football fraternity that it will storm the 2020/21 season with a formidable side that will gain promotion from the NNL to NPFL league.
