Sen Olujimi kicks as Ekiti PDP new exco assumes office

Senator Biodun Olujimi has blamed the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP for the crisis rocking the Ekiti State chapter of the party.

PDP in Ekiti has been embroiled in a protracted crisis for some time now. The party is polarised, with one faction loyal to a former governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose, and the other to Senator  Olujimi, who represents Ekiti Central in the Senate.

The two groups produced two state chairmen last Saturday at parallel congresses after they had conducted congresses at the ward and local government levels.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, Senator Olujimi said her faction held a parallel congress in protest against the national body’s support for the “illegal” congress conducted by the Fayose group.

Meanwhile, the new leadership of the PDP in Ekiti State has promised to reclaim the state from the ruling  APC in the 2022 governorship poll, issuing a red card to Governor Kayode Fayemi.

The State Working Committee (SWC) led by the Chairman, Bisi Kolawole, who is a loyalist of Fayose, promised to reach out to Senator Olujimi and other aggrieved leaders of her faction to unify the party and reinforce its chances in 2022.

Addressing party supporters who ushered in the new executive into office at the party’s secretariat at Ajilosun in Ado Ekiti, Kolawole vowed that the PDP would end what he called “a reign of terror” being allegedly inflicted on Ekiti  people by the  APC.
