Transport University in Daura: Buhari says ok, Amechi says no regret
Daily Trust reports that the ground break ceremony of the university was done by President Muhammadu Buhari in December 2019 but the COVID-19 pandemic stalled the project.
He reiterated that the University is a corporate social responsibility of the CCECC, the company that is handling all the railway projects in Nigeria currently.
“There was so much noise about CCECC not commencing the construction of the Transportation University but they are constructing,” the minister noted.
“They just got the approval from the state government and proper construction starts at the end of September.
“Hopefully, the university should be ready by September next year,” Amaechi announced during the inspection.
“This is a gift by CCECC and my assumption is that, it should be ready by September 2021,” he stated.
He also said: “The idea is that there should be a primary and secondary school for the lecturers who will come from outside of Daura.
“The CCECC will provide the manpower and technical skills for 5 years before the FG will be able to provide the technical manpower.”
The high point of the visit to Daura was a homage the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar whom the minister thanked for land.
