Customs auctions 314 vehicles worth N151m

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it has auctioned 314 vehicles with N151 million bid payment.

A statement by the spokesman, Deputy Comptroller Joseph Attah, said the items were auctioned as of Wednesday this week, in its weekly electronic auction platform.

The statement said 187 of the items have been paid for while the winning bidders are yet to pay for 127 others.

“Since the reopening of the Nigeria Customs Service e-auction platform, some complaints and inquiries have been pouring in, especially from those who tried unsuccessfully due to either invalid Tax Identification Numbers (TINs), inability to service e-wallet, poor network at their locations or any other reason which are all outside the jurisdiction of the Service.

“Some of these complainants appeared to have questioned the integrity of the e-auction process,” Attah said.

He however confirmed that the platform was accessible and hence the result of this week’s auction.

“Anybody still in doubt may wish to take a look at the printout containing names of winners and their details,” he noted.
