Plateau senatorial by-election: 5 aspirants jostle for APC ticket

No fewer than five aspirants are struggling to secure the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Plateau South Senatorial by-election to fill the vacuum created by the death of Senator Ignatius Dating Longjan.

The APC primary has been scheduled to hold on September 3.

Bashir Musan Sati, state secretary of the party, who disclosed this to our correspondent on Tuesday in Jos, said all the five aspirants had already returned their nomination forms to the National Secretariat of the party.

Sati said the aspirants to participate in the primary includes Prof. Emmanuel Garba, Prof. Nora Ladi Dadut, Prof. Dokanan Danjuma Sheni, Nimvel Nimfel and Damian Shekarau.

The secretary explained that the exercise would be conducted by the party officials from the National Secretariat.

He said no state party official would participate in the exercise to ensure transparency during the primary.

He further assured all the aspirants that the exercise would be free and fair, calling on them to accept the outcome of the election wholeheartedly.
