The immediate past Spokesman to Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, Mark Longyen, said he has withdrawn from the Plateau South Senatorial bye-election primaries slated for 5th September 2020.
In a statement, he said his decision to withdraw from the contest was owing to series of consultations with key stakeholders in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Longyen also said he had held discussions with his numerous political associates, friends and supporters in this respect.
He urged his supporters to remain calm and be loyal to the APC, saying that he is awaiting further directives from the APC’s overall interest which supersedes that of any individual member of the party.
“I therefore urge members of the party to always sacrifice their individual interests for the party’s collective interest in order to build a strong and indivisible party,” he said.
The by-election is to replace the late Senator Ignatius Longjan, who died early this year, and no fewer than 10 aspirants across all political parties are jostling for the senate seat have withdrawn so far.
