Osun court jails mechanic for aluminium theft

A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capital on Monday sentenced a 20-years-old mechanic, Ibrahim Kolapo to 12 months for stealing of aluminum sheets.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Fagboyinbo Abiodun told the court that Kolapo committed the offence on 23rd of August, 2020 at about 11:20am at Tinumola Area Oroki Estate, Osogbo.

Fagboyinbo said Kolapo unlawfully jumped through the fence and entered the house of one Sola Bamidele where he stole aluminum sheets valued at about N 240,000.

The prosecutor told the court that the offence committed by Kolapo was contrary to and punishable under Sections 509 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, volume II, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, 2002.

The Kolapo who had no legal representation pleaded guilty to the offence leveled against him, saying that he has not moved the items out of the compound when the owner caught him.

The Magistrate, Mr Ishola Omisade in his ruling, convicted and sentenced Kolapo to 12 months imprisonment without option of fine.
