The Public hearing was held by the House Committee on Tertiary Education and Services/TETFUND, led by the Committee’s Chairman, Aminu Suleman Goro (APC, Kano), on Thursday.

The National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and the College of Education Staff Union (COESU) gave conditional support for the establishment of more Colleges of Education (COEs) in the country.

The Bills were sponsored by the Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu (PDP, Delta), and Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba (APC, Nassarawa) respectively.

However, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) rejected the idea of establishing more universities in the country, saying that the government should rather concentrate on making the existing ones better in terms of infrastructure and other capacities.
