Welder bags 6 months imprisonment for stealing

An Osun State magistrate court sitting in Osogbo on Wednesday sentenced a 25-year-old welder, Kola Rasheed, to six months imprisonment for stealing electrical appliances.

The prosecutor, Inspector Kayode Adeoye, told the court that Rasheed committed the offence on August 18, 2020 at about 11.20pm at Basi Bankole Street, Oke Onitea, Osogbo.

Inspector Adeoye said the convict burgled the shop of Azeez Fatai to steal parts of a ceiling fan, two damaged pressing irons, a blade coil, a standing fan and some other items, all valued at N60,000.

Fatai said that the convict entered through the shop window to steal his property but was caught by neighbours, who then called him on phone to inform him of the development.

Rasheed pleaded guilty to the offence the police levelled against him.

Magistrate Opeyemi Badmus sentenced the convict to six months imprisonment without an option of fine.
