Islamic New Year: Ganduje declares public holiday in Kano

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has declared Thursday, August 20, 2020 as public holiday to mark the new Islamic year 1442AH.

Ganduje, in a statement on Wednesday by his Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, urged Muslims in the state to use the occasion for sober reflection and to offer prayers for continued peace, prosperity and general development.

The governor also prayed for God’s intervention over the COVID-19 pandemic and the current economic hardship faced by the people.

He prayed that there will be happiness and prosperity while calling on the citizens of the state to fear God in all their dealings, be tolerant and live peacefully with one another as preached by Islam.

Governor Ganduje gave assurance on his administration’s commitment to the improvement of the state’s wellbeing and development.
