Hundreds of aggrieved youths in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Wednesday, barricaded roads in the front of the police headquarters, Eleyele Ibadan, protesting against the escape of Sunday Shodipe, a suspected serial killer in Akinyele Local Government Area of the state.
They were demanding that the matter should be investigated and officers found culpable be prosecuted.

As a result of the protest, there was gridlock on the road between the Police Headquarters and Eleyele bus-stop.
Eyewitness told our correspondent that the protesters went wild and attacked security personnel at the command with stones and other dangerous objects.
Some of the protesters, who were mostly students of higher institutions, displayed placard with different inscriptions, matched to the Police Headquarters at Eleyele area of the city.
While addressing the angry youth, the Commissioner of Police in the State, Nwachukwu Enwonwu, assured them of his readiness to track down the suspect and bring him to justice.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said some students protested at the command’s headquarters.
Fadeyi said: “The CP and other senior police officers attended to them and answered all their questions.
“You know students now, some of them got out of control but we were able to handle the situation professionally.
“They have since gone back.”
