An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday ordered the remand of 37-year-old Abdul Malik, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos, over alleged sexual assault of a four-year-old girl.
Chief Magistrate Peter Nwaka, ordered the police to return the case file to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice, since Malik’s plea was not taken.

Nwaka adjourned the case until Sept. 29, for mention.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Benson Emuerhi, alleged that Malik committed the offence on Feb. 26, at his residence.
The police charged Malik, who resides at No. 9 Olusegun Opaleye St., Ago Palace, Lagos, with sexual assault.
Emuerhi said that the defendant placed the girl on his lap and assaulted her, adding that the case was reported at the Ago Palace Police Station.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes up to life imprisonment on conviction. (NAN)
