Moses Simon’s FC Nantes and Bordeaux, who parade Samuel Kalu, will now do battle on Friday to open the new French Ligue 1 season after the original opening day fixture between Olympique Marseille and Saint Etienne was affected by positive Coronavirus test results.
Four players of Marseille have tested positive for Coronavirus and so their home game against Saint Etienne has been postponed, according the Ligue 1 organisers.
As a result, the Atlantic Derby between Nantes and Bordeaux, which was previously scheduled for Saturday evening, will now usher in the new season in France by 7pm local time on Friday.
