Nasarawa State Assembly inaugurates new member

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, inaugurated Mr Ismaeel Suleiman-Danbaba (APC), as a new member representing Nasarawa Central Constituency.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the inauguration of Suleiman-Danbaba followed the death of the former member representing the constituency at the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Suleiman Adamu (APC) on April 30.

The  Speaker of the House, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, made the announcement in Lafiya while inaugurating the new member at a plenary session.

Balarabe-Abdullahi expressed optimism that the new lawmaker would provide quality leadership to the people of his constituency and the state at large.

He urged his colleagues to extend their hands of friendship to the new member to enable him succeed.

“Today, we have a new member, hence, the need for his inauguration and on behalf of myself and the entire House, we congratulate Hon. Ismaeel Suleiman Danbaba.

“I have no doubt that you are going to provide quality leadership to your people and the state at large.

“We pray God to continue to give you good and sound health to enable you discharge your duties effectively,” Balarabe-Abdullahi said.

The speaker also urged the new member to be guided by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the House rules in the interest of peace and for the overall development of the state.

He assured the new member of his support and cooperation to enable him succeed.

In another development, a bill for a law to establish the Nasarawa State Mortgage Board to Regulate Mortgages, Foreclosure and Enforcement in Real Property and for Other Connected Purposes, scaled second reading during the House Plenary session.

Alhaji Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House, moved a motion for the bill and was seconded by Mr Danladi Jatau, the Minority Leader of the House.

The speaker assigned the bill to the House Committee on Capital Market and Urban Development and urged the committee to submit its report on September 7. (NAN)
