The Federal Government has appointed Alhaji Hassan Ahmad Danbaba, the Magajin Garin Sokoto, as the part-time chairman of the Sokoto-Rima River Basin Development Authority.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, in a letter to Danbaba, said the appointment took effect from August 6, 2020.
“This appointment is at the discretion of Mr President and the allowances attached to your appointment are as provided under Category B of Federal Government Agencies and Statutory Corporations as specified in Circular Ref No. SWC/S/04/S.310/T/65 of 8th April, 2016,” the letter read.
The Development Authority was established in 1976 to oversee intervention projects in hydro projects covering four states of Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina and Zamfara states. Some of the projects include: the Bakolori Irrigation Scheme and the Bakolori Dam in Zamfara State, the Middle Rima Valley Irrigation Scheme and Goronyo Dam rehabilitation in Goronyo, Sokoto State and the Zobe Dam Rehabilitation in Katsina State.
