Southern Kaduna killings: Locals tasked on credible information

A coalition of civil society organisations, Southern Kaduna Indigenous Peace Practitioners (SOKIPEP), on Sunday tasked locals to provide genuine and credible information to the troops deployed to the area.

The coalition said the security personnel were finding it difficult to differentiate between genuine and false alarms.

SOKIPEP National Coordinator Dr Dauda Fadia, in a statement in Abuja, said the inability of the troops to respond on time to some of the attacks witnessed recently were attributable to the false and non-credible information to the military.

He said this made troops to dissipate their efforts in different directions as well as delayed the response to some actual attacks.

“We observe with dismay that sometimes the military promptly responds to information given them by our people only to realise the information was fake. “This is counter-productive and not healthy for a people that wants the security agencies to nib the crisis in their domain in the bud,” he stated.

He commended the military for arresting some suspected perpetrators of violence in Southern Kaduna, calling for a parade and subsequent handover of the suspects to the police for necessary action.
