Detectives from Area B Command, Lagos, have impounded a container load of adulterated drugs valued at about N2bn.
The consignment, which the police said was allegedly imported from Pakistan, contained several tons of adulterated drugs.
Already, two persons have been arrested over alleged involvement in the illegal import.
They were identified as Uchenna Oreator who claimed to be the importer, and one Uche Nwankwo.
It was gathered that a police patrol team discovered the container inside Eleganza Plaza in Apapa while it was offloading the goods into another truck with neither clearance from the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) nor bill of landing of the container with number SEGU 6326800.
Detectives acting on credible information raided the place where the trans-loading was being done.
The Area Commander, Olasoji Akinbayo, along with his team, requested to see the Nigerian Customs Service (NSC) documents to ensure the container was not being diverted to the plaza.
Consequently, the two trucks with registration numbers KTU216XG and SNK700XV were impounded and a search conducted on them only for the police to discover abortion pills, tramadol, cough syrup with codeine which are contraband drugs as well as suspected adulterated GSK and other brands of medications.
