Peace Ambassadors in charge of facilitating reconciliation between the farmers and herders in Adamawa state have sought the government’s intervention to make their task easier.
Ardo Ayuba, in an interview with North East Trust Correspondent in Yola, appealed to the state government to provide palliatives to victims of the clashes between farmers and herders.

He said numerous clashes between the two sides had led to the destruction of properties and farmlands in Dume town, Guyuk Local Government Area.
Ardo Ayuba said if the people were provided with assistance it would make the task of reconciliation much easier.
He reiterated that there is a need for the government to assist both peace ambassadors with palliatives so as to settle the differences.
Ayuba Bwatiye, the peace ambassador leader from the farmer’s side, said they were doing their best in order to bring peace between the two sides.
The Amalgamated Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and Pan Fulani Cultural Association, Tabbital Pulaaku International, had on June 4 signed a peace accord in Guyuk to bring to an end the incessant clashes between the two groups.
The agreement was facilitated by the British Council.
The agreement prohibited herders from grazing their cattle in the night and would be forced to pay a fine for crops damaged if caught.
The farmers also agreed to always report invasion of their farmlands to the committee instead of taking the law into their hands.
