Gunmen kill two naval officers in Kogi

Few days after gunmen killed an army captain and abducted his wife and mother in Kogi State, two naval officers have also been reportedly killed.

The two naval officers, a male and female met their death along Lokoja-Okene expressway.

The incident was said to have happened around 6:00pm on Thursday.

Daily Trust reports that GSM Abubakar serving with the 353 Artillery Ojo Cantonment Lagos, was also killed in similar circumstances on Sunday.

The two naval officers were travelling in a Toyota sienna bus when they were stopped by gun wielding assailants who opened fire, killing them on the spot.

The commissioner of police, Mr Ayuba Ede who confirmed the incident said he has since drafted his men to the scene to ascertain the situation.

“Yes, I heard about it and I have dispatched my men there to bring me the detail of how and when it happened,” he said.

It could not be immediately ascertained where the officers were coming from or heading to when the incident happened.

The commissioner said the command would work with sister agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.
