Justice Patricia Ajoku of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, has sentenced an internet fraudster, Hammed Lawal to three months imprisonment after finding him guilty of impersonation.
A spokesman for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Dele Oyewale, said on Tuesday that the Ibadan Zonal Office had filed a cybercrime charge against Lawal.

Justice Ajoku held yesterday that the Commission had successfully proven that Lawal impersonated one Joy Williams.
Following the defendant’s guilty plea, the EFCC counsel, Babatunde Sonoiki, prayed the court to convict and sentence him accordingly.
The judge sentenced Lawal to three months imprisonment, and also ordered him to restitute the sum of $500 to his victim, one Mantonia Duncan, and forfeit his Apple iPhone X to the federal government.
