The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of 6,618 senior police officers across the country.
The promotions were one of the highpoints of the 8th plenary meeting of the commission which spanned a period of three weeks. The meeting which was chaired by the chairman of the commission, former Inspector General of Police Musiliu Smith, according to the commission, ended on Wednesday.
This was contained in a statement issued the commission’s, Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, yesterday.
It said one Assistant Inspector General of Police, Olushola Oyebade currently at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Jos, Plateau State was promoted to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), to represent the Southwest.
Ani said four commissioners of police were promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).
