Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed,has suspended the Caretaker Chairman of Misau Local Government Council, Mohammed Yarọ Gwaram, alongside his deputy, and the secretary of the council.
The action is said to be over the poor handling of the communal clash between farmers and herders in which nine people were killed and six others injured in Zadawa village in the local government area.
The governor stated this while addressing newsmen shortly after chairing an emergency security meeting, on Wednesday in Bauchi, also set up a 13-man panel headed by Air Commodore Tijjani Baba Gamawa to identify the cause of the communal clash and submit its report within three weeks.
The communal clash broke out in Zadawa village of Misau local government area of the state Monday and Tuesday over ownership of land between herders and farmers, which was alleged to have been converted to farming by the authorities, a development that the herders did not accept.
Local government officials went to the place with security backing, but the herders were said to have violently reacted and a clash erupted leading to the death of nine and six others with machete cuts and other injuries.
