The ministry said it was currently following up on the case.
It said the victim was taken by the suspects on a motorcycle that was “driven by an unsuspecting biker and dumped underneath a parked car close to her house.”
The Ministry stated on its twitter handle on Thursday that after hours of frantic search, the victim was found by a relative and immediately taken to the hospital.
It stated that the four rapists and one collaborator have since been apprehended and the case moved from the Police Division to the State Criminal Investigative Department.
The ministry added that after investigation, the suspects will be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction.
It further stated that while the ongoing conversation “on #SayNoToRapists continues, the monstrous practitioners have not shown signs of slowing down.”
Daily Trust reports that several campaigns through hashtags on social media have been ongoing to call on the government to address rape cases.
The campaigns gained momentum after Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100 student of the University of Benin, Edo State, was attacked while reading in a church, raped and left for dead
