Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has met farmers during a tour of communities on the shores of Lake Alau in Konduga and Jere local government areas.
The governor’s visit on Tuesday was aimed at achieving improved food security in the state.
About 28 communities in the shores of Lake Alau were targeted in the first phase of the governor’s back-to-farm initiative.
During the visit, Zulum personally interacted with many farmers either clearing or planting seeds in their various farmlands.
“Our intention is to resettle all the 28 communities around this place; we have built trenches from Dalori up to Molai.
“We are in consultation with the military, Insha Allah all the communities will go back to their localities soon,” he said.
Zulum, while briefing newsmen after his tour, assured of government support to enable farmers to go back to their farmlands.
