NEMA donates 19 trucks of relief items in wake of Muna Garage fire

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Monday donated food and building materials to victims of fire disaster which killed two people at Muna Garage camp for displaced people.

NEMA Director General, AVM Muhammad Alhaji Muhammad(rtd) while presenting 19 trucks of assorted items to the Borno State government in Maiduguri on Monday sympathized with the families over irreplaceable of lives and property destroyed in the fire.

He said the relief materials were provided to assist the victims to resettle and resume  normal lives.

Muhammad said the federal government through NEMA provided the relief materials to alleviate and ameliorate the sufferings of the victims and, to give them a means of livelihood.

The fire on Saturday night at Muna Garage Displaced Camp also destroyed 1637 houses.

The 19 trucks of food and non-food items donated include large quantities of mattresses, mats, wrappers, blankets, planks, bundles of zinc, pieces of ceiling boards, 1packets of roofing nails, bags of rice, bags of sorghum, bags of beans, tomatoes, milk, food seasoning and spaghetti.
