Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has released N450 million to families 0f victims of 2019 general elections violence in Abonema, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state.

The Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, who disclosed this during a meeting with the families of the victims at Abonema yesterday said that the 37 identified families of the victims will be paid N9million each.

He said that payment of the compensation is in fulfillment of governor Wike’s promise that victims of the violence will not die in vain.

He said that the bank accounts of the victims’ families would be credited with the amount due to them from tomorrow.

The Amanayanabo of Abonema, Desreal Bob-Manuel, who spoke at the meeting, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money.

It would be recalled that scores of indigenes of Abonema lost their lives when military men had a face-off with youths of the community over issues concerning 2019 governorship election in the state.
