A political pressure group, Hajo Sani Youth Network for Buhari Support, has accused the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnmadi Kanu, of peddling hate speech against wife of Nigeria’s President, Aisha Buhari.
Daily Trust recalls that the leader of the proscribed group had claimed that; “the wife of the president and her gang” will end up in jail when Nigerians realised that President Muhammadu Buhari was not the same person they voted for in 2019.
In a statement jointly signed by its National Coordinator, Salisu Bala Hassan, and Secretary, Dr. Nwafor Odochukwu, the group described Kanu’s post as hate speech and urged Nigerians to ignore IPOB and its leadership.
“The latest post by Nnamdi Kanu is nothing but hate speech and obvious jealousy against President Buhari and his wife.
“We are all aware of his popular ranting and the fact that he is now commonly known as enemy of progress in this country,” the group stated.
It stressed that hate speech should not be disguised as free speech, noting that those who use prejudice and hate as a foundation to make their cases have no merit.
“It is only when these prejudicial feelings are set aside that we can think clearly and productively,” it added.
