Katsina gets new Sharia, High court judges

Four new judges have been sworn in on Thursday by the Katsina State governor Aminu Masari.

He charged them to be firm, fair and just in the discharge of their duties.

Daily Trust reports that those sworn in are Safiya Badamasi Umar (SAN) and Barrister Ashiru Sani as High court judges while Mohammed Makiyyu Adam and Adam Salihu Yarima as Qadis for the Sharia court of appeal.

Speaking at the occasion, Masari said the appointments called for greater responsibilities to duty and professionalism.

He added that; “this is a call to duty that requires more dedication, professionalism and above all the fear of Allah.”

He said the primary objective of every legal practitioner is to deliver justice which he said is pertinent in ensuring peace and good governance.

“The justice delivery system nowadays has been facing challenges that includes delay in the dispensation of cases.

“A reform in the system has become imperative to ensure effective justice delivery in the state.” he said.
