Bayero University Kano loses third professor in two weeks

Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has lost another Professor after a “very brief illness”.

Professor Monsuru Lasun Emiola of Physical and Health Education (PHE) Department, Faculty of Education died on Wednesday.

An indigene of Osun State, Professor Emiola died at the university clinic following an undisclosed illness.

He is the third professor of the university to have died in the last two weeks.

A professor of Mass Communication at Bayero University Kano, Balarabe Maikaba, had died on 26th of April after a brief illness at his residence near the Bayero University campus.

Professor Maikaba was a former Head of Mass Communication Department and a member of the University Senate.

His death came after the death of Professor Aliyu Umar Dikko of the Physiology department of the same university.

Kano State has recorded many deaths since the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.

About 20 prominent personalities have died in Kano recently, including academics, businessmen and women as well as technocrats.

The government had since commenced oral autopsy to determine the cause of the many deaths in the city.
