Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers opened fire on a commercial vehicle, killing four travelers while two others were missing at Turunku village, in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
A commercial driver, Aliyu Usman, who narrowly escaped the attack, told our reporter in Toto that the incident happened around 7:12 a.m. on Wednesday.
He said the gunmen in large numbers, with sophisticated weapons, suddenly emerged from the bush and opened fire on a Volkswagen Golf, which he said was in front of his vehicle.
He said the gunmen killed four passengers inside the vehicle while two others composed of males and females were missing.
He said one of the gunmen’s bullet hit his vehicle but he managed to escape back to Toto town, saying the remains of the travelers were later conveyed to Umaisha for burial.
When contacted, the spokesman of Nasarawa State police command, ASP Ramhan Nansel said, “It has not been brought to my notice.”
