The Lagos State Police Command yesterday said it has arraigned 325 persons in court for violating the 8pm to 6am curfew in the state.

Government had on Sunday declared the curfew as a way of gradual easing the lockdown meant to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, told Daily Trust that the 121 persons were arrested on Monday, May 4, 2020 by officers attached to the enforcement team led by the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.

He said that those arrested along with 148 added to a few others nabbed during the weekend for violating the lockdown order were charged to court, bringing the number of suspects charged to 325.

He said the accused were sentenced accordingly, adding “some of them were given four hours of community service while others were awarded fines of N2,500 and N3000 respectively.”
