Ramadan: Christians break fast with Muslims in Kaduna

Christians in Kaduna have joined their Muslim counterparts to break the fast in the spirit of Ramadan and to strengthen religious tolerance between them.

The Christians led by the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, Pastor Yohanna Buru, visited their Muslim friends and broke fast with them.

“During Lent, Muslims usually join us in breaking the lent fasting in order to boost good relationship between Muslims and Christians.

“That is why we came to felicitate with you for the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan and to urge you our Muslim brothers to redouble effort and dedicate more time in prayers to heal the world against COVID-19.

“The visitation is also aimed at encouraging Christian/Muslim relationship in the state, so as to further strengthen peaceful co-existence, religious tolerance and forgiveness among Nigerians as well as spread the message of peace, unity and to shun all forms of ethno-religious, political and regional differences.

“Iftar gives us the opportunity to promote interfaith activities and spread the message of peace and better understanding,” he said.

He lamented how the COVID-19 pandemic has crippled activities and appealed to all to pray for the continuous unity of the country and for God to save the people against it.

Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Gashash, who received the clerics, thanked them for the gesture.
