Five persons have been killed in Kwal and Miyango towns of Bassa Local Government Area in Plateau State by gunmen.
The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the killing of four persons in Kwal.
ASP Ubah Gabriel, the spokesperson of the command, confirmed the killing to Daily Trust on Tuesday, adding that the incident occurred on Sunday night.
“Four persons were killed in the attack but there wasn’t loss of property.
“The command has deployed security personnel to the area to ensure normalcy.”
Also, a source from the area told our correspondent that another person was killed in Miyango town following the killing of the four persons by gunmen.
He said: “The gunmen stormed around 10pm on motorcycles and went straight to a provision shop and shot dead the owner of the shop after the attack in Kwal.”
According to the source, the two incidents had generated tension in the affected areas and there hadn’t been adequate security personnel in the area.
He called on government to deploy security personnel to avoid escalation of crisis as many residents were fleeing the area.
