The Nasarawa State Government has imposed a total lockdown on Nasarawa Local Government Area, hometown of the lawmaker who died as a result of COVID-19.
State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dogo Shammah, disclosed this while briefing the press shortly after an expanded meeting to review measures put in place to contain the further spread of the pandemic, at the Government House, on Tuesday.
Governor Abdullahi Sule had confirmed that the late member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA), Suleiman Adamu, died of coronavirus disease.
Adamu died last Thursday few days after falling sick.
The State is now tracing 74 persons who had contact with the late lawmaker.
This is just as the state government made the use of face mask in public compulsory, starting from Wednesday.

Professor Kana emphasized that the decision was taken because the essence of the lockdown had been attained.
A curfew has, however, been imposed on Karu, from 8pm to 6am.
The Attorney General said that all other restrictions, including the ban on all social and religious gatherings remained.
When contacted, the Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government, Alhaji Mohammed Otto, Said: “I am calling on my people to abide by the decision of the state government to lockdown the Local Government, this is for the overall interest of the people to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.”
