The Chairman Sanga Local Government Council in Kaduna State, has said that the challenges hitherto undermining the enforcement of the lockdown order to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the area are gradually being surmounted.
Mr Charles Danladi said while speaking with journalists in Kafanchan, that there has been significant level of compliance with the restrictions imposed by the government.
He said some residents had initially expressed doubt about the reality of the ravaging pandemic which led to the low level of compliance.
He also said some people had alleged that it was just a ploy by government to siphon public funds.
Mr Danladi, however, lamented that trucks not conveying essential items like foodstuff and pharmaceutical products were frustrating effort of the council towards ensuring total lockdown.
While commending the people of the area for their cooperation, the chairman appealed to them to be vigilant and report to relevant authorities any visitor sneaking in.
