Another professor dies in Kano

A professor of Mass Communication at Bayero University Kano, Balarabe Maikaba, is dead.

He died yesterday after a brief illness at his residence near the Bayero University campus.

Maikaba is the third professor to have died within two days in the state.

He died a day after Professor Ibrahim Ayagi, the CEO of Hassan Gwarzo School, and Professor Aliyu Umar Dikko of the Physiology department of the same university  died.

His funeral prayer was conducted around 4:30pm at his family compound in Fagge area of Kano metropolis.

Our correspondent gathered that Maikaba was the 27th person, as at 5pm that was buried in abattoir cemetery at Kofar Mazugal in Dala Local Government Area on Sunday.

There is currently apprehension in Kano following the death of at least 12 high-profile persons because of unknown causes within two days.

Professor Maikaba was a former Head of Mass Communication Department and a member of the University Senate.
