Police rescue another 27 children from suspected trafficker

The Police in Taraba state have rescued additional 27 children from Mary Yakubu, who was earlier arrested in connection with abduction of 33 children.

This brings the number of children rescued from the suspect to 60.

Police spokesman in the state, DSP David Misal, said the suspect was arrested on 26 Febuary, 2020 in Bali by Police detectives attached to Bali Division of the State Command over suspected child trafficking case.

He said the suspect was found with 23 children while making arrangement to convey them to unknown location.

Misal further stated that the suspect led a team of Police investigators to Mararaban Donga where additional 10 children were recovered.

He said the recent rescue which is the third made by the Command, was on 5th April, 2020 where another 27 children comprising 14 male and 13 female were rescued by Police operatives in Tashan Takalmi area of Gassol local government area in the state.

DSP Misal said the Command has so far in the last two months rescued 60 children from the suspect adding that about 33 of them have been reunited with their parents.

According to him, the suspect, Mary Yakubu is undergoing trial in the Court.
