Police in Plateau on Thursday arrested traders along Yantaya Junction for flouting the COVID-19 safety directive issued by Governor Simon Bala Lalong.
On Wednesday, Daily Trust reported how policemen and civil defence officers chased away traders and hawkers who refused to obey the preventive measures issued by the state government.
Recalled that the governor had on Tuesday in a statewide broadcast directed the closure of all market areas with immediate effect except those selling food items but some people are yet to adhere.
Our correspondent observed how some traders were bundled into police operational vehicle around Yantaya area.
The action according to the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Ubah Gabriel, on Wednesday, is in line with the governor Lalong’s directive to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state.
Daily Trust reports that security operatives were seen patrolling the city center of Jos where the business hub of the state is concentrated.
